I wonder if this is a permissions issue. I have an account on my mac setup for admin only. I never use it - only for major admin issues. I usually use my own personal account. I may have originally installed the driver under my own personal account. But I am sure when I originally installed the driver, the mac asked for the admin account password - which I did type in - in order to allow me to install the driver. So, I am not sure why this would happen.
In a similar post I read about an interesting solution in Mac OS 10.4 and later to 'Reset the Printing System':

I think I will give this a try - in an hour after my break. But most importantly, I would like to know why this might have happened in the first place and how I can avoid this problem in the future.
